The most curious thing is the "mystical" relationship he has with Chris Martin:

Chris's "love": Chris has said in several interviews that when he met Jonny at university (UCL), he felt he had "fallen in love" musically and spent years trying to "pull him out of the shadows" because Jonny is very shy, despite being the one who defines the band's sound.

Without him, there is no Coldplay: Chris Martin has gone as far as to state that "there would be no Coldplay music without Jonny Buckland." He is so close to the family that Jonny is the godfather of Apple, Chris's daughter.

Extra fact: Jonny studied Astronomy and Mathematics at university. Perhaps that's where that "spacey" and precise sound of his guitar comes from.
